This is an essay I have written to enrol to the International Essay Contest 2004, organized by the Goi Peace Foundation, Tokyo, Japan.
I have won the Honorable Mention from the foundation for the essay and awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

The essay includes some extracts from what I have written in some articles before about the same topic.

The essay is entitled : "Humanity's Loyal Servant" and it's coming under the main theme of the competition "Making the most of my qualities"

I have always believed that every person on this planet has one or more qualities that distinguish him/her from any other person. However, many people do not believe how unique they are and think that everyone is alike. This results in a negative effect on society, since many would just sit back and watch the world, thinking wrongly that they can do nothing to develop the current life situations. For me, I think I am blessed to know my qualities and attributes; I have worked hard to discover the best things in me, so that I can use them to serve my society.

I have always tried to learn from the lives of the great men and women in history. One of the best lessons I have ever learned was from Helen Keller's quotation, "I believe that all through these dark and silent years God has been using my life for a purpose I do not know, but one day I shall understand and then I will be satisfied." I utterly believe in what she said, and I am certain that in this life, I have a message to deliver and an obligation towards others. Therefore, I decided long ago to teach myself how to use the tools that I have to help me achieve my goal of making my society a better place to live. However, I found that the most powerful weapons that God has armed me with are my talents and abilities. They are my best tools to serve humanity.

Being a poet has been my main blessing. I write poetry to help paint pictures of hope and love in others' lives as well as teach them how to make the best of everything around them. I have always hoped that my poetry would remind people of sweetness and artistry, as well as make them learn from life's experiences. But this is not all, I also talk to students my age to help them make the best of their lives, because this will make them able to determine their goals. I write different articles that are published in teenagers' magazines. Those articles focus on the lives of great people who affected the world in a positive way. I want teenagers to have idols in their lives to follow. Besides, I write reviews about books, to attract everyone towards reading, for I believe that reading is a great tutor. In addition, I created the first wall magazine in my school. I update it frequently, as it is a way to benefit my colleagues and make them smile during their hardest times. I do this because I feel it is my duty towards my small community. I have a message to deliver to them. Nevertheless, due to my belief in the importance of art and its influence on the society, I have founded the first IGCSE Poetry Club in Egypt. As head of the Club, I am responsible for collecting materials from literature books and sources to help members who want to learn how to write, enjoy and understand poetry. I have also attracted many teenagers towards the 'art of poetry' and helped them discover their talents, showed them how to express their feelings, as well as encouraged them to write poetry.

In my opinion, a strong personality with firm beliefs is one of the most important things about me, because this makes me refuse corruption and mid-way solutions. If I can not make the best of what I have, I do not accept compromises. This makes me work hard for everything I want so as to do it in a perfect way,  as well as refuse anything imposed on me and anyone else that will have a negative effect either on an individual or the whole society. Moreover, my ambition and strong will are the things that keep me alive till now. Everyday I face difficulties and sometimes the thought of being not able to go on attacks me, but thanks to my precise dreams, I never feel down and always see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, ambition does not work alone. I enjoy being hopeful because the sense of 'hope' in my life is what completes my ambition. I never see the cup half-empty, but half-filled and I always think that whatever bad things are, whatever difficulties there are in life, whatever violence and disturbance there are, everything can change, if only we unite and work hard to do so.

There is a lot that I want to give to life and I trust that life needs my role. I have lived until now with hope in my heart. The hope of doing good everyday is what keeps me satisfied. I look forward for each new day to come with sunshine and blessings into my life, which will consequently reflect on others' lives.
